Spring Fun and (Short) Game

How many swings does it take to land a golf ball inside a still hula hoop? For some LUGGers, not many, for others the stillness of the hoop was something of a problem...

But in the hoops the ball did land for all after a while.... even the most impatient among us learned that swinging little (rather than big) gets the job done better on smaller chip shots!

Of course, getting the chipping motion down on the range isn't quite the same as chipping onto real greens, and so we migrated down to Cottonwood GC's spacious short game area after a while for a good chipping practice and a contest.

Watch out for these LUGGers when they go out and play. They've learned how to get up and down around the green!

Our next event is on Monday May 14th (3-5PM). Hope to see you there!

Off to a good start

Last Monday saw our second EC LUGG events of 2012. We were thrilled both to see returned LUGGers and to meet some new ones!

The weather was beautifully dry and warm. A perfect afternoon to spend outdoor on the Cottonwood driving range. We even got to hit balls off the grass instead of artificial turf!

Of course, there is more to golfing than just hitting golf balls. We always first pick a target before hitting toward it (this is harder than first hitting the ball before picking a target, but nailing the target this way feels so much better!). While our bigger members worked hard on taking dead aim on the driving range, our smaller numbers had a lot of fun navigating Coach Mary's (in)famous balancing act obstacle course, before finishing off the afternoon playing 'Freeze!' on the putting green.

Our next event is the Sunday Family Clinic on April 22nd. Looking forward to seeing everyone there!
